TinyTap Accelerates Learning Innovation with Scalable, Secure Google Kubernetes Deployment by CloudZone

TinyTap is a social learning platform that empowers families, teachers, and students to create and share personalized educational apps. With thousands of new activities added daily by a global community of educators, TinyTap supports self-directed learning and collaboration across age groups. The company operates in the education sector and is primarily based in Israel.

TinyTap had already adopted Google Cloud Platform (GCP) for its production environment. However, the team faced significant challenges in modernizing their application deployment to improve scalability, availability, and security. Their existing setup lacked the benefits of container orchestration and automated deployment processes, making it harder to keep pace with growth and innovation.

CloudZone, a trusted Google Cloud Partner, was brought in to lead the full redesign and implementation of TinyTap’s application environment. Working closely with Google’s Account Manager and Customer Engineer, CloudZone migrated the TinyTap application to Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE). The application was re-architected according to GKE best practices and supported by a CI/CD pipeline to streamline deployment. CloudZone also implemented a hub-and-spoke networking architecture and integrated Google Cloud security services, including Network Firewall, Cloud Armor, and Private Endpoints.

The modernization effort led to measurable improvements. TinyTap’s application is now more highly available and scalable, leveraging the elastic capabilities of GKE. Deployment agility significantly improved thanks to the new CI/CD processes, while enhanced security was achieved through the implementation of GCP’s advanced security features. Together, these changes enabled a more robust and responsive platform, ready to support TinyTap’s global user base.

CloudZone’s solution made use of several Google Cloud services, including Google Kubernetes Engine, Cloud Armor, Network Firewall, Private Service Connect, and CI/CD toolchains. This comprehensive use of GCP infrastructure not only modernized the environment but also aligned with Google’s recommended best practices for secure and scalable cloud-native applications.

Reflecting on the project, the TinyTap team shared, “With CloudZone’s support, we successfully transitioned to a modern, scalable, and secure deployment model on Google Cloud. This has significantly improved our operational agility and user experience.”

TinyTap chose to work with CloudZone due to their strong track record in managing Google Cloud modernization projects. Previously, TinyTap’s deployment model lacked the flexibility and efficiency required for dynamic growth. The decision to invest in a new solution was driven by technical limitations and the need for a more secure, scalable, and manageable platform.

The implementation was smooth and efficient, from planning to production rollout. While exact timelines were not provided, the process followed a clear methodology involving design, application re-architecture, service configuration, and deployment to production via GKE and CI/CD pipelines.

The success of the project can be measured across several dimensions: improved deployment agility, stronger application security, high availability through Kubernetes orchestration, and a scalable architecture to support future growth. These benefits position TinyTap to continuously innovate and expand their platform capabilities.

Looking ahead, TinyTap plans to continue collaborating with CloudZone to further enhance its digital infrastructure and implement new features aligned with user needs. The modernization project marks the beginning of a long-term transformation strategy to scale and improve TinyTap’s impact in the global education space.
